Għargħur Primary students and educators participated in an initiative to raise breast care awareness. Students, teachers and all other members of staff wore something pink on the day.
Year 5 students from Għargħur Primary School have been rewarded for their contribution to the dementia sector, during the first edition of a national award dedicated to this condition which is on the increase. The School was rewarded for Exceptional Contribution in Dementia in the first edition of the National Award in the Dementia Sector. Għargħur Primary School Council stopped the distribution of hundreds of single-use plastic straws that were delivered to the school in the first week of the new Free Milk Scheme. Whilst welcoming the re-introduction of the Milk Scheme at school, the School Council said that the initiative should not come at a cost to the environment. Għargħur Primary has been awarded the Dyslexia-Friendly School Award for implementing a number of dyslexia-friendly practices. Għargħur Primary and Siġġiewi Primary are the first primary schools in Malta to ever receive this award. Dyslexia Friendly Schools are inclusive and proactive schools that lead to the development of self-confidence and competences of all pupils. Għargħur Primary inaugurated the Qatra Qatra Project aimed at replenishing the water table whilst giving its students a great learning experience. Funded by HSBC Water Programme - Catch the Drop Campaign, the main aim of the Qatra Qatra project was to install a GEO-INF system rainwater infiltration system to recover rainwater that was currently being wasted and ending up in the streets of Għargħur.
