Support for Students Who Need Help With Reading

The Specific Learning Difficulties Service (SpLD) library aims to support students who need help with their reading and parents who need strategies to support their children at home.

Following numerous requests, the SpLD library will be running another reading course during which parents will be given an overview of the reading books available at the SpLD library and will be able to discuss a variety of reading techniques to support their children.

Session 1: Thursday 14th May –  5.30pm – 6.30pm: Launching of library activities

What kind of books can I find?

Session 2: Thursday 21st May – 5.30pm – 6.30pm: Paired Reading

Session 3: Thursday 28th May – 5.30pm – 6.30pm: Reading and ICT

How can ICT improve reading?
What are the benefits?
What makes a good reading site?

Session 4: Thursday 4th June – 5.30pm – 6.30pm: What comes after?

What activities can follow a reading session?
How do I measure progress?
How do I know if my child is ready for the next level?
